Grit & Glamour

This summer, I set out with photographer Jon Duenas and stylist Christine Shields to take some promo shots for the upcoming Pink Feathers EP. Christine helped me come with a look that was a sort of fun combination of old hollywood meets sixties mod. I love the way she made my hair look so romantic and wavy, while bringing a little fun and pop into the look with bold, pink lipstick. In her words, “Red can be SO serious.”

I opted to wear the Ziggy Dress by Cheap Monday to bring a touch of mod with the bold paneling and mock turtleneck, along with the Panama sunglasses by Tory Burch for a bit of glamour.

For the shooting location, Jon and I explored the SE industrial area in Portland, OR. I liked his choice of location because it brought some grittiness to the photos. I was amazed at how Jon could take seemingly ordinary places and frame them in really captivating ways. We tried a few different areas all relatively close in distance- one in front of a concrete wall painted in pale blue, another by some railroad tracks in the golden sunset, another on some stairs leading up to the Morrison Bridge with the camera directly facing the sun. It was neat to see how each location and angle created a different look and mood.
